Proverbs is unavailable, but you can change that!

Proverbs directs believers to live godly lives and shows the folly of ungodly living. The book has been called the Sermon on the Mount of the Old Testament. Both instruct believers about how to live lives of love. Solomon, a man of wisdom and great insight, wrote most of this book. He proclaims that real wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.

In addition to proverb, Solomon uses several other words to depict different types of wise sayings. One of them is the word parable, which signifies a figure of speech. For instance, Proverbs 9:17 states, “Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!” To understand this parable is to realize the meaning behind the figure of speech: it refers to the attractiveness of the forbidden. Some translations, such as the King James Version (KJV), translate the term “riddles” as “dark sayings.”
